It achieved 124mph in the flying mile trial although this was reduced to 114mph in touring trim

and it was never a commercial success selling just 9002 cars in its 2 years of production

Mabel and Romeo mgb 677 were producedFollowing some success at Sebring with the MGB, it was decided that BMC should produce a small number of highly modified MGCs to compete in the Prototype class of sports car racing. This resulted in the original Sebring MGC GTS cars that were raced successfully in the late 1960s.
