This beautifully rendered brooch (circa 1890 1900) features a Limoges style painting of a young woman with a somber, almost mournful, expression on her face set inside of a golden shell. The brooch measures 1. 15 inches from top to bottom by 1. 15 inches wide. It is unmarked, but acid tests for 18k gold and it bears an unknown maker's mark. It is in excellent condition.
