John Wells, Island Counterpoint, 1956 Frame:white making each tray a uniqueJohn Wells initially practiced as a doctor on the Isles of Scilly but moved to Cornwall at the end of the Second World War to pursue a career as a painter. In 1946, Wells shared an exhibition with Winifred Nicholson at the celebrated Lefevre Gallery in London and became an assistant to Hepworth alongside Terry Frost in 1949.
