These stamps are known as the "Jubilee" issue as they were issued during the year of the Golden Jubilee of the accession of Queen Victoria to the throne in 1837

As she was still a child she was sent to relative safety in France and lived there until her return to Scotland in 1561

The key to the rarity of the 96c issue lies with the postal rate of the time

and was originally obtained from Bill Bray
