1994 was a wild time to get into Magic because the expansion sets were coming out fast and furious Antiquities came out in March, Legends came out in June, and The Dark came out in August
This card usually gets around the downside of not having strong creatures, or not having enough creatures

Deeproot Historian feels like new space for green to me, and I cant say Im enthused
The card would actually work well in a Vilis, Broker of Blood deck, a commander who lets you draw cards for every point of life you lose, giving you four cards each time you pay Slaughter's Buyback cost
Garland, Knight of Cornelia Serving as functionally a Dragon Rage Channeler on one side, Garland also presents a solid early body, and in the late game gets recurred as a significant flying threat
