I've always found that the "scales with modified creatures" effects often tend to work best with counters, since it tends to be easier to spread those out while many aura/equipment commanders want to stack up value on a few creatures

That's good, even at such a high cost, yet Scour from Existence is strictly better at 7 mana and instant speed

I was hooked

So if you can threaten those creatures without spending cards (graveyard cards don't really count the same way), you are slowly gaining an advantage with each activation
