The synergy with Lightning-type Pokmon is obvious, but the synergy with Trainer Cards that allow you to play from behind is where this card gets depth
Green does have access to more mana than the other colours but due to other attributes of the colour it does tend to need to use that mana to best leverage tempo proactively

Your opponent can still destroy the Sword itself with any number of artifact destruction abilities, but artifact removal is relatively rare and can be played around easily
Youd have to protect it though 270 HP and a second attack that provides damage reduction is no slouch but that could really shut down strategies that take a bit of build-up
Your best bet for player-to-player trades is probably meeting other MTGO players in another location, either online or in your LGS, and then initiating trades there
